newsletter 8-24

Monday, August 24, 2009

Dear Parents,
Last week we learned about Tucson’s history, and that five different flags have flown over our city. Tucson turned 234 years old on Thursday, August 20th.
Last Friday, we had a back to school Luau. The children danced to Hawaiian music, did the limbo and played musical chairs. Also, each student received lea, bracelet, ocean magnet, pencil and some candy. The students had a blast.
Open House will be on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, from 6-8p.m. The book fair will be open during Open House. Your student will be excited to show you around the school, and especially the Oceanarium, where you’ll have a chance to see some of your student’s work. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday.
Students will be taking home their first homework assignment on Tuesday. Your student needs to complete the homework with pencil, color the pictures and turned in the completed homework Wednesday morning. Using a highlighter is a good way to help your child write the “kindergarten way”. The students already know that an adult using a highlighter is not a bad thing. It is just a tool to help them. If your child does not return their completed homework Wednesday morning, they will miss part of their outside time.
