HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

It was great to see all the families at Harvest Fest. Thank you to the following parents for helping at our booth: Trent’s Mom, Dan’s parents, and Shayla’s family.

The students enjoyed our Pirate Party. Each student received a pirate bandana, eye patch and mustache. Thank you to Ms. Faith for helping at our party. The students enjoyed playing carnival games (all received prizes), musical chairs, and freeze dance. The students had pizza, Pirate Booty, Black Cat Cookies, Jack-o-lantern cookies, candy kabobs, and Vampire Blood (strawberry juice). Students ate on pirate plates and took home their cups.

Duds for Dollars – Wednesday, Nov. 2nd.
• Students may dress down for a dollar.

FIELD TRIP INFORMATION – Friday, November 4th
• All students MUST have a sign permission slip and have given $3.00.
• All adults MUST have their fingerprints on file before Friday.
• All students MUST wear tennis shoes and bring a bag lunch.
• All students need to be at school no later than 8:20.

This week we will not have a spelling test because of the field trip Friday. Please make sure you and your child are going over all the letter and letter sounds (Ll, Oo, Gg, Hh, Tt, Pp, Aa, Mm, Nn). Please review numbers 1-30. These are important skills they need to know in order to read and complete math problems.

newsletter

Last week the class made necklaces for Nn week. The class enjoyed Nilla wafers, Nerds, and chocolate Nugget .
Our class pet, Tallulah, a tarantula arrived in the classroom. I held Tallulah while the students observed her. I pointed out the eyes, legs, abdomen, spinnerets, and the cephalothoraxes.
Also, the students observed an inch worm. An inch worm is the caterpillar larva of a moth. The students enjoyed watching the inch worm move.
Reading logs: Due every Monday
• Thank you to all the families who read at least 15 minutes a night.
• Thank you for turning in the reading logs.
Harvest Fest – Friday, October 28th from 6-8
• Everyone student in our class is to bring in $1.00 for the temporary tattoos by Wednesday. To date, we have only received $ 4.00.
• Please come by our booth and say HI!

Field trip – November 4th
• If you have not turned in the permission slip and money, please do so as soon as possible.
• We will be leaving promptly at 8:40.
• Please make sure your child is in the classroom by 8:15. They will need to eat breakfast, change into their field trip shirts, and use the restroom.
• Students need to bring a lunch in a paper bag, including a drink. Please NO lunch boxes.

week of 10-17

I hope everyone had a nice, restful weekend with family.

This week our class will be taking our first spelling test. The spelling test will be given Friday morning. I will give the class the word, use it in a sentence and sound it out for them. Your student needs to be able to write the spelling words down on a piece of paper. Please make sure your student has a chance to practice and even take a practice spelling test at home. When practicing the words, mix them up.

Our school is having a box top contest. Please keep sending in the box tops for education. It helps out our school fundraising.

Harvest fest:
• Please send in a dollar for the temporary tattoos.
• Our class still needs a couple more volunteers to help with our booth.

week of 10-10 - Review

There will be NO homework for this week!

Please make sure you sign up for a parent/teacher conference. Please, no students at the conferences.

Report cards:
• All students need extra reinforcement at home.
• It is very important for students to review at home what we have gone over in class.
• Reinforcement will make their school year easier.
• Please sign and return the paper attached to the report cards.

Our class needs empty cardboard egg cartons for a project next week.

Last week, the students enjoyed pretzels, popcorn, pumpkin candy, Puffin cereal, Circus Peanuts, and Pops cereal. The class made penguins.

Thank you to all the families who placed book orders. I will work out the kinks in the online ordering next time. I received an email Sunday that the books have been shipped.

The students may wear Pajamas on Thursday, October 6th for the 40th day of school. Please NO slippers, robes, stuffed animals, blankets, or pillows.

I will be having conferences the week of October 17th. Please sign up for your conference on the classroom door. Please do not be late to the conference.

Our class is having a party on Friday, October 28th. We will need some parent volunteers.

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS:
