Our field trip to Sabino Canyon was truly AMAZING! The students learned about how the canyon was made, erosion, camouflage, different types of fur and skulls, and different types of scat. Thank you to the following parents: Jennifer (Lily’s Mom), Gina (Giovanni’s Mom), Scott (Aidan’s Dad), Dustin (Keirstin’s Dad), Carlos (Carolos’ Dad), Natalie (Ryan’s Mom), Molly (Jordan’s Mom), Michelle (Jake’s Mom), Petra (Elizabeth’s Mom), and Jeremy (Chance’s Dad). We could not have done it without your help! Mrs. Stewart came into our classroom on Friday and talked about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She talked about marching with Dr. King. Mrs. Stewart also talked about a person of good character and treating people the way you would like to be treated. Our next field trip will be on Tuesday, February 19th. We only need 4 parents. Parents will need to drive their own student to and from the field trip. VALENTINES Our class will be exchanging valentines. They have Valentines at the Dollar Tree, Walgreens, Target, Wall-mart, etc. Please have your student write the “To” and “From” on each valentine. This is a great way to encourage your child to write. Please send them in by February 8th. Please send them in the order on the attached class list. Each student needs to give one to everyone in our class. The student’s enjoy giving and receiving valentines. Last week was filled with many forms of 100. The students made 100-day silly hats with 100 stickers on them. The students enjoyed making their 100-day necklaces out of 100 beads (10 different colors). Also, last week the students made a zoo animal to go in Ms. O’Hare’s Zany Zoo. In addition, the students made a zig zag collage. Students also enjoyed eating Zebra cakes. Field trip – Thursday, January 24th – 8:30 – 3:00 • Thank you to all the volunteers. • All students MUST wear jeans or uniform pants (please NO shorts), hat, and tennis shoes. We will be going on a nature hike. • Please make sure your child has a sweatshirt that they can tie around their waist when it gets hot. • Students need to be at school around 8:15 in order to eat and change into their field trip shirts. We will be leaving promptly at 8:45. • All students need to bring a bag lunch with a drink. This week we will be studying: • Review all letters and letter sounds due to the short week and field trip • Numbers 1-70 • Prey, predator, camouflage, habitat

Last week, the students enjoyed making umbrellas and snowmen. The snowmen are displayed in our classroom. Also, the students enjoyed sharing their 100 items. They look great! It is an amazing display of 100 items. It is getting cold! Please make sure your child has their name in their sweatshirt/jacket. The jackets all look the same. If your child accidently brings home the wrong one, please just bring it back to me. I will make sure it gets to the correct owner. 100th day of school – Wednesday, Jan. 16th • Students may wear Pajamas. • Please NO slippers, pillows, blankets, or stuffed animals. Field trip: Thursday, Jan. 24th • We still need a couple of more volunteers. • ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST have their fingerprints on file in the office in order to attend the field trip. I will be checking this Thursday. • All students need to wear a hat, tennis shoes, jeans and a sweatshirt/jacket that they can tie around their waists. • Students need to bring a bag lunch, including a drink. Everything will be thrown away at the park. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I hope everyone had a nice relaxing holiday break with your families. Mrs. Marshall and I would like to thank the families for all the wonderful holiday gifts. It was thoughtful and meant a lot to us. Thank you! 100th day of school – Wednesday, January 16th • This is a big deal in Kindergarten. • Students may wear pajamas – Please NO slippers, stuffed animals, blankets or pillows. January 24th – field trip to Sabino Canyon • Students must have a bag lunch, including a drink. • Students MUST wear tennis shoes and have a sweatshirt/jacket that they can tie around their waist.
