week of 10-25
Last week the class tried Nilla wafers, Necco wafers, Chinese noodles, nectar, nacho cheese Doritos, and navy beans. Most students enjoyed all of the Nn snacks.
Spelling test – I am proud to announce that 11 students earned 100% on the first spelling test of the school year. Please keep practicing the spelling words with your student every night.

Students may NOT wear costumes to school. We will be doing something special on Friday afternoon. If you are able to help from 1:15-3:15 on Friday, please let me know. I know it is short notice, but we would appreciate the help.

I hope everyone had a great long weekend. Thank you to all the Grandparents who came to our classroom last Wednesday. The students had a great time.

week of 10-11-10
I am happy to announce that every student turned in their homework on time last week. WAY TO GO! Thank you to all the families who brought items off the wish lists.
Next week, a homework packet will go home on Monday, and it is due Friday. Along with the homework packet, there will be a reading log. Please read to your child at least 20 minutes a night and document it. Also, our class will start having spelling test. Spelling tests, will be given on Friday morning. We have been practicing in our class. It is very important to review words every day. Children benefit from an adult giving practice tests at home. Thank you for your help!
Last week the students tried dried apples, apple slices, airheads, apple butter and Apple Jacks. Also, the students made apples that will be going home this week.
Wednesday – October 13th, all students MUST be picked up at 11:30. There will be NO lunch or afterschool. Have a fabulous, restful break!
Report cards – • Report cards go home Wednesday, October 13th.
• Please remember that the students have only been in school for a couple of months.
• All students continue to need reinforcement at home.
• If you have any questions, I am more than willing to set up a time to discuss your child’s progress.

10-4-10
Last week we studied the letter Pp. The students tried Pringle potato chips, pumpkin candy, pumpkin seeds, and pineapple crisp. Also, the students ate puffed corn and popcorn with a pink napkins. Our class voted on which popcorn was the best, and the puffed popcorn won.
Friday the students made bats and they are hanging in their roost in the classroom.
We have coloring and name writing contest throughout the week to encourage students to take pride in their work.
Dress down for $1 – Wednesday, October 6th
40th day of school – State funding day – October 7, 2010
• It is crucial that every child is on time and at school on Thursday.
• Every child will receive a special treat from the school.
• We will have Pajama Day in our class.
o Please NO spaghetti straps, slippers, stuffed animals, pillows, etc.
o We still have P.E., so please make sure your child wears tennis shoes.

• All children must go home at 11:30.
• There is NO after school or Lunch.

• Counting to 40
• Counting by 2’s to 10
• Bats
• Reading following words: the, is, log, hog, hot, hat, pat, got
Please continue to review letters and letter sounds with your child every night. (Ll, Oo, Gg, Hh, Tt, Pp, Aa). Also, please continue reviewing the numbers 1-25.
