Our class witnessed history yesterday. They watched the Space Shuttle Endeavour on it's last journey to Los Angeles. The students were amazed!

Homework is an essential part of reinforcing the information from class and teaching responsibility. Responsibility is one of our Character pillars. Only 12 out of the 30 students turned in their completed homework on time. They received a character ticket, a penny for Skittles and a special pencil for being responsible. I hope next week 100% of the class turns in their homework, completed (including reading log, coloring, etc.) and on time. Last week the students studied the letter Pp. The students made Penguins. Also, the class painted with porcupine painters using pink and purple paint. Friday, September 28th – school gets out at 11:30 • All students MUST be picked up by 11:30 • NO after school or lunch • I will bring the class out front around 11:20. • Just a heads up, the parking lot will be a packed. Report Card Testing: • I will be testing the class for their report cards starting the end of the week • Please continue to reinforce class work at home. It does make a difference. Parent Teacher Conferences: • There is a signup sheet on our classroom door. • If you have any questions, please come and ask. • Please be on time. Volunteers/Chaperones • All adults that would like to volunteer or chaperone on a field trip or in the classroom MUST have their fingerprints rolled at school. • If you think there is a chance you are able to attend a field trip, please plan ahead and make an appointment. • Please make an appointment with the front office. • Please do not wait until the last minute. • Thank you in advance for your help. We could not do field trips without you!  IMPORTANT FIELD TRIP DATES: All adults MUST have their fingerprints rolled up in the front office. • Friday, November 2nd from 8:45 – 3:00 – Cost $3.00 o Please wait until the permission slip goes home to send in the money. • Thursday, January 24th from 8:45 – 3:00 • More information will come later. ** Going on field trips is a privilege. If a student is having a problem making good choices in the classroom, they may not be able to go on a field trip. Last week, the class began learning Nursery Rhymes. Please have your student tell you the Nursery Rhyme, There was an old women who lived in a shoe. Also, the class learned Hey Diddle Diddle and Hickory Dickory Dock. The students are doing a great job memorizing the Nursery Rhymes. Also, the students made Turtle Tambourines and enjoyed Twinkies for T week. The students practiced keeping rhythm like they are learning in music class. Homework: • All students must complete homework and turn it in on Friday. Homework is NOT an option • Reading log is part of the homework assignment and needs to be completed. o Reading to your child is a vital part of their reading development. It makes a difference. Thank you to all the families who attended Open House. It was great to see everyone! The students really enjoyed being the tour guides of their class. Last week the students studied the letter Hh. The students made Hedgie the Hedge Hog. Miss. Janet (my Mom) brought in a special snack for the students. She brought in Hors D’oeuvres that had Havarti cheese, Ham and Honeydew melon. The students loved them. Volleyball Fundraiser – Movie – Wednesday, September 5th from 1:30 – 3:00 • I am one of the volleyball coaches, and we are trying to raise money for new volleyballs and volleyball net. • Students pay $2.00 and they receive popcorn, a drink and a movie (The Lorax). • I will be there watching all the children along with Miss. McIntosh (a kindergarten teacher/volleyball coach) and the girls volleyball team. • It will be a fun time!
