Week of 8-20

Each student made an octopus that is swimming in our oceanarium. Also, the students enjoyed Oh’s cereal while studying the letter Oo. On Monday, Coach Erin, my sister, came into the classroom and held a mini basketball clinic. We may have some future basketball stars. Coach Erin is from Monterey, California, and is Associate Head Women’s Basketball Coach and teacher at Monterey Peninsula College. On Friday, my sister Jessica, from Irvine, California, visited the classroom. She read to the students and helped with making the olive branch crowns. Jessica works for Orange County. OLYMPICS in the Oceanarium The students each competed in one of ten events. The students learned about the events, sportsmanship, and being caring. Each student received a medal during our medal ceremony. Please see the attached sheet of Olympic results. On Friday, our class competed against Miss. MacIntosh’s kindergarten class in a relay race. Our class won! Please make sure your child brings their folder every day. This is a very important way to communicate and and yet another way to teach your child responsibility. Please help your child by taking all the work out of their folders every night. Our class will be learning to write in D’nealian. It makes the transition from printing to cursive much easier. Attached is the way your child will write each letter. Please keep at home for reference. HOMEWORK: • Please make sure your child is writing the Kindergarten way (D’Nealian). • Please go over their homework with them. • Please continue to read to your student every night.
