week of 9-24
This was an exciting week in Kindergarten. The class witnessed history. The students were able to watch the Shuttle Endeavour making its last voyage to the Science Museum in Los Angeles. The students learned about the shuttle and saw pictures before our class went out to watch the shuttle. The students were amazed at how close it was to them. Also, the students watched a short movie about different shuttles and astronauts. They watched the astronauts land on the moon and move without gravity inside the space shuttle.
Also, this week the class participated in their first science experiment in the oceanarium. The students made a hypothesis, observed and recorded their findings. The class observed what happened to milk with food coloring and dish soap. The soap separates the fat in the milk. “It is a color explosion!” said a student. Please visit my blog to see pictures.
We studied the letter Aa last week. The students tasted and voted which apple they liked best. It was a tie between Gala and Red Delicious. In a close 2nd was Granny Smiths.
Miss Janet gave each student an Apache Tear. An Apache tear is volcanic black glass. Also, Miss Janet shared with the class an ammonite, which is a 400 million year old fossil of a spiral form of marine life.
Thank you for helping your student complete and turn in their homework. We had 24 students turn their homework on time. WAY TO GO!! I hope the next time, we will have all 30 students returning their homework, completed and on time.
